The Mobile Surgical Unit, which is functioning from 1956, celebrated its Silver Jubilee Camp, organised at Joganiyamata (Distt. Chittor) on 24th Nov. 1981 where a record number of 845 operations were performed.
Over the last 50 years (1956-2005) approximately 3,39,339 operations have been performed which include eye, general surgery, gynecology, dental, ENT and orthopedic operations. Nearly 25.60 Lac of patients have been treated in out-doors.
This unit is not only popular in Rajasthan, but it is also famous for its marvelous services to mankind. This unit was requisitioned by the Govt. of India to provide its medical services to the people of Bangladesh. On 26th May 1971 the entire unit went to Bangladesh having its area of work along the border. The Unit returned back to Jaipur in Sept.1971 after doing commendable work. The Mobile Surgical Unit was also asked to remain prepared to attend the INDO-PAKISTAN war at Rajasthan border.
