DEPARTMENT OF MEDICINE IN MSU

ROLE OF PHYSICIAN:

Medicine department is providing modern medical care to

poorest,tribal and backward rural community.

Medical services OPD ,indoor ,Gastroscopy,preoperative

and postoperative are provided in major and minor MSU

camps in interior villages in Rajasthan and in City Hospital ,

Jaipur .

TYPE OF PATIENTS AT MSU CAMPS :

Because of poverty,illiteracy tribal area patients are unable

to avail modern medical services.

Because of the great faith in the quality of medical services

provided in past years"MSU camps large number of tribal

illiterate backward villagers comes inMSU camp OPD

WORKING PATTERN IN MSU CAMP OPD :

1.Early diagnosis-after a brief history and clinical examination

patients are advised necessary investigations available at camp site

immediately like X-ray,USG,ECG,Biochemistry&pathology etc.and

consultation with other speciality doctors available in camp OPDs if

required.

After receiving the investigation report on the same day patients are

advised necessary treatment and further management.

2.Early diagnosis of their disease-Large number of poor tribal patient

know first time about the disease they are suffering from, in MSU

camps.

REFERRAL SEVICES:

Few patients like valvular heart diseases ,congenital heart diseases,

endocrine disorders,renal failure,etc.are referred to superspeciality

centres according to their diseases.

T.B. & Leprosy:

T.B. patients are referred to nearest DOTS centre for free

treatment under RNTCP which will reduce the spread of TB

in the community.

Leprosy patients are reffered to nearest health centre to bring

them under national leprosy control programme.

PREVALENCE OF DISEASES IN RURAL AREAS:

Prevalence of disease varies according to the surrounding natural

conditions and dietary habits.

At village Atru&Sitabari district Baran,Asthamatic respiratory

problems,T.B.,skin allergy conditions ,acid peptic diseases are

commonly seen because of the dusty environment,smoking habits

and increased chilly consumption in diet.

Sexually transmitted diseases(STD)are commonly seen in Atru

and Sitabari tribal villages due to illiteracy and lack of knowledge

of how these diseases can be prevented.

 

At village Balesar( Jodhpur )dyspnoea due to pneumoconiosis,allergic

skin diseases are common due to stone industry and dryness and

sandy environment.

COMMONLY DIAGNOSED DISEASES IN MSU CAMPS :

Hypertension,IHD,RHD,CHD,LVF,

Diabetes mellitus,

Hypothyroid,hyperthyroidism

T.B.,COPD,Pleural effusion,Bronchial asthma.

Renal Failure,Ascites

Severe anaemias-mostly Iron deficiency and nutritional anaemia.

Rheumatoid Arthritis

Migraine

Eczema,psoriasis,fungal infections,scabies,seborrheic dermatitis

Sexually transmitted diseases(STD)

Anxiety ,depression,schizophrenia,epilepsy,etc.

HEALTH EDUCATION:

AIDS is commonly seen with STD so health education with special

awareness of AIDS about how it spreads& how it can be prevented

is given to suspected STD patients immediately.

In TB,Leprosy ,scabies health education is given to prevent the

spread of diseases.

Education about family planning temporary and permanent control

methods available is given to eligible couples.

After camp OPD physician is providing services in Preoperative,post

operative and operation theatre emergencies.In non camp period physician

is providing modern medical services in MSU City Hospital ,Jaipur

FUTURE PLANS:

For providing better medical services to poor tribal areas unit is

planning for newer imaging facilities like colour doppler,and modern

equipments in haematology,biochemistry,serology,hormone assay

for thyroid,infertility ,ELISA test for HIV I&II,Hepatitis B etc.
